Present at the Meeting were representatives from Civil Aviation Authority of Viet Nam (CAAV) – Mr. Nguyen Cong Long, Deputy Director of AND division; Representatives from  Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM), Southern Region Air Traffic Services Company (SORATS); And delegates from Air Traffic Management Sector, DCA Malaysia headed by Mr.  Ahmad Nizar Zolfakar - Director, Air Traffic Management Sector.

The Viet Nam – Malaysia Air Traffic Services Coordination Meeting between VATM and Air Traffic Management

Sector, DCA Malaysia (hereby abbreviated as the bilateral meeting) has been conducting by two sessions: the 1^st session held in Viet Nam and the 2^nd session held in Malaysia. The main purpose of the bilateral meeting is to let the both parties to have agreement and sign the Air Traffic Services Coordination Procedures between Kuala Lumpur ACC and Ho Chi Minh ACC for replacing the Operational Letter of Agreement between Department of Civil Aviation Malaysia and Viet Nam Air Traffic Management signed on 18 July 2001. Both parties, by this event, wish to further enhance their coordination in providing air navigation services with safety, regularity and efficiency.

During the Meeting, both parties discussed on the modifications of the Draft of the Air Traffic Services Coordination Procedures between Kuala Lumpur ACC and Ho Chi Minh ACC which has been adjusted and developed based on the Operational Letter of Agreement between Department of Civil Aviation Malaysia and Viet Nam Air Traffic Management signed on 18 July 2001. This draft will be given to the operational staffs, functional units as well as relevant authorities of the both parties for making comments. Then, the details will be finalized once the 2^nd session of the bilateral meeting between VATM and DCA Malaysia being conducted.

 The 1st Session of Air Traffic Coordination Meeting between VATM and DCA Malaysia

In prior, at opening remarks of the Meeting, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Cong on behalf of Viet Nam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) welcomed Department of Civil Aviation of Malaysia (DCA) delegates to Ho Chi Minh city and wished all a fruitful meeting to discuss about the modifications of the Draft of the Air Traffic Services Coordination Procedures between Kuala Lumpur ACC and Ho Chi Minh ACC. Mr. Nguyen Dinh Cong also express his high appreciation to the strong efforts of both VATM and DCA Malaysia in reaching agreements for the mutual coordination procedures through discussions during the days.

On behalf of DCA Malaysia’s delegation, Mr. Ahmad Nizar Zolfakar - Director of Air Traffic Management thanked VATM, SORATS for hosting the 1^st session of the bilateral meeting between the both parties. Mr. Ahmad Nizar Zolfakar said that the meeting would also continue to enhance rapport and build friendship between the both parties.

The meeting agreed that the discussions have been fruitful. Both sides aim to sign the Air Traffic Services Coordination Procedures between Kuala Lumpur ACC and Ho Chi Minh ACC at the 2^nd session of this bilateral meeting held in Malaysia soon next month.

On this occasion, DCA Malaysia delegates took a visit to ATC facilities of VATM, including: Ho Chi Minh ATCC and Tan Son Nhat Tower.
