The traffic movements at Cam Ranh international airport is increasing with complicated flight operation nature that made Cam Ranh became one of the busy airports in Viet Nam. There are about 100-150 civil flights per day landing/taking off at/from Cam Ranh international airport. Besides, the airport also serves for military flight operations, including training activities, military transport, helicopter flight…and general aviation operations with various types of aircraft.
To meet requirements for development, the Civil Aviation Authority of Viet Nam (CAAV) issued Decision No. 240/QD-CHK dated 8 February 2018 to approve the plan for dividing area of responsibilities in ATS provision within the terminal manoeuvring area (TMA) of Cam Ranh international airport.
On 16 August 2018, the Viet Nam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) declared a Decision to establish and put into operation the Cam Ranh Approach & Aerodrome Control Center, belonging to the Southern Air Traffic Services Company (SORATS), VATM.

The newly established Cam Ranh Approach & Aerodrome Control Center has functions to provide air navigation services, including ATS services (aerodrome control, flight information services, Advisory services and Alerting services); Aeronautical Meteorological Services; marshalling services; and communication and surveillance services for flight operations within its assigned responsibilities.
With modern equipment and technologies, the Cam Ranh Approach & Aerodrome Control Center will help to improve the closely coordination between civil and military flight operations as well as reduce workload of Air Traffic Controllers during ATS coordination with other relevant agencies and units.
The newly established TMA at Cam Ranh airport will help to enhance quality of civil air navigation services provision in safety, efficiency and regularity manner; improve aircraft receiving capacity as well as improve coordination in training activities for military flights.
The Cam Ranh Approach & Aerodrome Control Center is the fourth Approach & Aerodrome Control Center of Viet Nam, besides Noi Bai, Tan Son Nhat and Da Nang Approach & Aerodrome Control Centers.
