After several months of preparation, from 12 January 2014, the new international ATS route R335 between Vinh city in the central province of Nghe An and the Lao capital city of Vientiane has been official exploited. This is the result of efforts among relevant units in Vietnam’s aviation industry, including Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM).
VATM has taken an important role in the successful opening of this ATS route. During 05 months of implementation, VATM has actively implemented some additional items of works, such as: amendment of flight procedures, revision of operational manuals of Hanoi ACC and Aerodrome Control Tower at Vinh airport, installation of ATS route’s data into ATM system, signing on ATS coordination/ Letter of Agreement (LOA) between Hanoi ACC and Vientiane ACC…
Besides, this is also the first international route to be run in 2014 by the national carrier of Vietnam - Vietnam Airlines after the exploitation of five new international routes in 2013.
The Vinh-Vientiane route is opened to meet an increasingly demands on transportation as well as cultural and commercial exchanges among local people in the provinces of the North Central of Vietnam and provinces of Laos, Cambodia and Thailand. The launching of this new route shall help to promote international cooperation in all fields among provinces in the region. This will also create favourable conditions for travel agencies of those countries having opportunities to cooperate for mutual developments in the Mekong subregion.
