VATM and ADB SafeGate sign Contract for Equipment Systems of Long Thanh Air Traffic Control Tower

February 21, 2025, at VATM’s headquarters, VATM and ADB SafeGate BV performed the Contract Signing Ceremony for Package TB03 “Supply and installation of Air traffic control Tower systems and equipment” of Project Component 2 “Air traffic management facilities” under the project “Long Thanh International Airport – Phase 1”.
Package TB03 is the fourth package among five international procurement packages of the above-mentioned project that VATM has signed contract with the selected contractor. The bidding documents for the package were issued at the end of June 2024, and the bids were submitted on September 12, 2024. After the evaluation of the bids in compliance with the provisions of the Law on Bidding of Viet Nam for international procurement packages following 01 phase – 01 envelope bidding method, the Bidder ADB SafeGate BV of Belgium was selected to be awarded the contract for the bidding package TB03 - the package with the biggest scope of Component Project 2 “Air traffic management facilities” under the project “Long Thanh International Airport – Phase 1”. 
Speaking at the signing ceremony, VATM Deputy Director General Ho Sy Tung congratulated ADB SafeGate and said that VATM was assigned by the Vietnamese Government to be the Investor for air traffic control related works for the national key project - Long Thanh International Airport, and Package TB03 is a major package within the investment scope of VATM. He hopes that the successful implementation of the package TB03 will be an opportunity for ADB SafeGate to better understand Vietnam’s market and VATM, creating a premise for its participation in future potential projects.
Contractor’s representative - Mr. Waqas Ahmed Sheikh, Vice President Asia of ADB SafeGate thanked VATM for awarding ADB SafeGate BV the contract for Package TB03. Mr. Waqas Ahmed Sheikh shared that ADB SafeGate is a global leading supplier for air traffic control equipment. ADB SafeGate is proud to be the supplier of the world's first A-SMGCS system in Oslo in 1998 and also the supplier of the most modern - level 4 A-SMGCS system in Abu Dhabi, which was delivered in 2021. ADB SafeGate products are present at 2,800 different airports around the world. In Vietnam, ADB SafeGate is also working closely with the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) and hopes that Package TB03 will be the beginning of a long-term partnership between ADB SafeGate and VATM.

The contract has a total value of nearly 8 million EURO, signed in the form of a lump sum contract. According to the signed contract, the contract performance duration is 331 days from the effective date of the contract and the warranty period is 24 months after the system handover and put into operation.
With the scale and importance of the Package TB03 in particular and the Project in general, VATM and ADB SafeGate commit to closely coordinate in the implementation process of the contract to ensure the quality and progress of the package, contributing with other component projects to realize the goal of putting Long Thanh International Airport Phase 1 into operation by the end of 2025.
