Technical Seminar of the Multilateration System (MLAT) Cooperation Program between Viet Nam and Japan
There are more than 60 participants from Viet Nam Civil Aviation Authority (CAAV), Viet Nam Airports Corporation (ACV), Viet Nam Aviation Institution (VAA), VATM and representatives from Japan including Japan Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB), Electric Navigation Research Institute (ENRI) and the Japan Radio Company (JRC).
The seminar is in the frame of the cooperation program between VATM and JRC under the Agreement of non-refundable grant for MLAT cooperation program at Phu Quoc international airport signed on 02 May 2018.
MLAT surveillance technology is a new technology that has not been implemented in Viet Nam, the seminar, therefore, is a good opportunity to introduce about background of developing MLAT, principal features of JRC’s MLAT and also to share and exchange information among related agencies of Japan and Viet Nam on the application of MLAT in air traffic management sector in Viet Nam and Japan, said Mr. Trinh Nhu Long, Deputy Director General, VATM.
In this cooperation program, JRC will provide VATM equipment, transportation, installation, insurance, expert salary, related taxes and fees regarding the implementation of provision, installation, evaluation, testing of the MLAT system at Phu Quoc international airport. The duration for implementation and completion of the cooperation program is in two years of 2018 and 2019. After completing the installation, evaluation and acceptance, the MLAT system will be delivered in whole to the Viet Nam Air Traffic Management Corporation to put in operation to support air navigation services.
VATM is in the progress of modernizing, enhancing capability, safety and quality of air navigation service provision in order to meet the rapid growth of the air traffic in both domestic and international scale and seeking for supports and cooperation from domestic and foreign partners. VATM highly appreciate the cooperation program with JRC and expect that this cooperation program will be the foundation of further cooperation between VATM and Japanese companies in general and JRC in particular during the progress of enhancing technical facilities and upgrading air navigation technology in order to ensure safety and quality of air navigation services to airlines.
