VATM signs contract to procure MET systems for Long Thanh International Airport

February 12th 2025, at VATM Headquarters, VATM and the HYMETCO-VAISALA-ANSV Joint Venture signed the contract for Package TB04 "Provision and installation of systems: D-ATIS; MIPS; AWOS; WDR + WSAS + MET backup Indicator" of Project Component 2 "Air traffic management facilities" under the project "Long Thanh International Airport Phase 1".   

The Invitation for Bid for the Procurement Package TB04 was issued at the end of June 2024 and Bids were openned on August 19, 2024; with 01 stage 01 envelope bidding method due to the Law on Bidding of Viet Nam. This is one of 5 procurement packages implemented under the form of international open bidding of the Project Component 2 "Air traffic mana ge ment facilities" under the project "Long Thanh International Airport phase 1", in addition to packages TB02, TB03, TB05 and TB06 to purchase equipment systems for air navigation services provision at Long Thanh International Airport.    

The Contract was signed in the form of a lump sum contract with a total value of nearly 1.3 million EUR and more than 80 billion VND, the contract performance  duration is 300 days, and the warranty  duration after delivering the system is 24 months.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Ho Sy Tung, VATM Deputy Director General - representative of the Project Owner congratulated the Joint Venture of HYMETCO-VAISALA-ANSV for being awarded the contract for the TB04 package and emphasized the importance and significance of the Long Thanh International Airport Project - a major project of the Gover n ment. To contribute in the target of putting Long Thanh International Airport Phase 1 into operation by the end of 2025, the Project Owner's representative called on all members of the Joint Venture to cooperate and work closely with VATM team to complete the package with the best quality and progress.   

Meteorological service (MET)  is one of five core services of VATM, along with Air Traffic Service (ATS), Communications – Navigation – Surveillance (CNS), Aeronautical Information Service (AIS), and Aeronautical Search and Rescue (SAR). Therefore, the scope of Package TB04 has an important value in the supplying chain of air navigation services of Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation at Long Thanh International Airport.

Understanding the importance of the Package in particular and of the Project in general, Ms. Ha Thi Thuan, Director of Vietnam Hydrometeorological and Environmental Equipment Joint Stock Company (HYMETCO) – the leading member of the Joint Venture, shared that being awarded the contract for the Package TB04 is not only their pride but also a major responsibility. Therefore, the contractor is committed to making every effort and mobilizing all the best resources to implement the package on schedule and with the highest quality. The representative of the contractor also expressed its wish to receive close coordination from VATM to promptly resolve difficulties during the contract implementation process, in order to realise the targeted timeline. 

Right after signing the contract, the two parties started to develop a jointly detailed implementation plan.
