VATM welcomed Singapore Aviation Academy's delegation at headquaters
The meeting with SAA’s delegation this time also involved representatives from VATM Departments of Training, Safety and Administrative.
At the beginning of the meeting, Deputy Director General Doan Huu Gia extended the warm welcome from VATM to the Delegation and hoped that through this meeting the discussions, especially on VATM’s needs of training, between the two sides would achieve successful results. On SAA’s side, Dr. Michael Lim thanked VATM for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to SAA’s delegation and hoped that VATM would be interested in information shared by his colleagues so far.
Throughout the meeting, Mr. Gia also expressed VATM’s delight for the long- lasting durable relationship between VATM and SAA over the past 20 years (from 1993 to 2013). As being accounted, from 1993 to the end of 2012, SAA conducted for VATM about 106 training courses with 433 participants.
The two sides also discussed on various training programs to be conducted in 2013, such as training courses on Customized Area Control/Approach Control, Customized ATC Superior, Advanced Aeronautical Information Service. In addition, training course on Safety Management System (SMS) was also mentioned as an important part in cooperation training in the near future.
During the meeting, Mr. Thomas Yeo – Deputy Head, School or Air Traffic Services, SAA - shared his views and experiences on training & testing methods on Operational Level 4 English language proficiency under ICAO Requirements. He also shared his experiences on Air Traffic Control Officer (ATCO) training process in Singapore. This information is considered to be practical for VATM in its process of recruitment and training for new Air traffic controllers in the coming time.
Also throughout the discussion, SAA highly appreciated VATM’s kind cooperation as well as efforts of its participants attending training courses at SAA during the past years. The Academy proposed to provide three complimentary fellowships for VATM in 2013.
The meeting was conducted in the spirit of mutual understanding and warm atmosphere. By the end of the meeting, VATM and SAA reached consensus on strengthening coordination and mutual sharing of experience. The two sides agreed to conduct working visits to enhance the mutual cooperation in training activities.
