VATM hosts the CANSO Asia Pacific Conference 2017
Under the theme "Gearing for Growth in the Asia Pacific - Embracing Change, Building Capabilities", the CANSO Asia Pacific Conference 2017 really became a forum to reflect the challenges that ANSPs in the region have to face up with – challenges from the continuous changes and strong growth in the air traffic movements; and how the ANSPs able to overcome challenges and improve their capabilities.
With the participation of over 150 delegates from CANSO APAC, ICAO, IATA, the Conference was a great opportunity for stakeholders in the aviation sector of the region to determine necessary changes, strengthen their capabilities and apply new technology through collaboration and partnership.

The Vice Minister of Transport of Vietnam Le Dinh Tho was the guest of honor at the conference and made a welcome speech at the opening session. Attending the Conference, there were also leaders from the Civil Aviation Authority of Viet Nam (VATM), Viet Nam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM), Vietnam Airlines (VNA) and other airlines of Viet Nam. Director General of VATM Pham Viet Dung was invited to be one of the speakers of the Conference.

With the rapid growth of aviation sector, Viet Nam’s aviation sector has been increased significantly at double-digit growth, at the average rate of 14% per year. It is expected that up to 2024, the traffic movement will be double in comparison with the current traffic movement of 2016. Viet Nam has had 20 continuous years of ensuring absolute safety for flight operations in its responsibility airspace. In 2016, VATM provided air navigation services for 734,000 flights safely.

Being the host country of CANSO APAC 2017, it was really a great chance for VATM to receive collaboration and cooperation from international aviation community to support its tasks and objectives in aviation safety as well as air traffic management. The conference was also an opportunity for Viet Nam to introduce the beauty of the country and Vietnamese people to the world aviation community.
